CARPOOLING CHALLENGE
Hosted by SIFE, WBBJ TV, & Maddox
Insurance
What is SIFE?
Students in Free Enterprise is an international non-profit
organization active on more than 1,400 university campuses in 47
countries. SIFE gives college students the opportunity to develop
leadership, teamwork, and communication skills by organizing outreach
projects that focus on market economics, entrepreneurship, financial
literacy, success skills, business ethics, and environmental
sustainability.
Why Carpool?
As the world population rapidly grows, we are out growing our natural
resources. It has been estimated that by 2050 each individual will
only have 25% of the resources that were available in 1950. Depletion
of natural resources might not affect us directly today, but if we
don’t take the initiative to preserve what we can our children and
grandchildren will suffer in the future.
Adapting to an environmentally conscious life style doesn’t have to be
time consuming or costly. It can be as simple as sharing a ride with a
friend or colleague. The Bethel University SIFE Team and WBBJ have
partnered to bring this carpool directory to citizens of West
Tennessee to provide them with a modem to connect with other community
members, reduce their gas expenses, and best of all, reduce pollution
and preserve one of our most precious natural resources. We encourage
everyone to take the carpool challenge because after all you’ve got
nothing to lose. The worst that could happen is that you’ll Go Green
(carpool and preserve gas), Save Green (save gas money), and Win Green
(be one step close to winning a gas card.)
Remember: it is the small steps that can make the big differences.
How to Participate
To take the carpool challenge, you simply agree to the terms and
conditions, register your information, and contact one of the other
registered members to carpool with them. Complete and submit a survey
by 04/20/2010. Upon the completion and submission of the survey, each
name will be placed in a live drawing for a chance to win one gas card of $150(First Place),
one gas card of $100(second place), and one gas card of $50(third place).
However, before the live drawing WBBJ and SIFE will pay a surprise
visit to some of the members who have completed and returned the
survey. Their reactions and comments about their carpool experience
will be aired on WBBJ. If WBBJ and SIFE’s visit to any participant
indicates any discrepancies from the information provided on the
survey that participant will no longer be eligible for the drawing.
Terms and conditions:
- Any entry submitted after the deadline will not be eligible for
the drawing.
- Participants must be at least 18 years of age.
- All participants may only register once.
- Participants are required to complete the follow-up contest survey
in order to be eligible for the drawing.
- By registering to be part of the challenge, you are expressing
your interest to carpool and understand that other members will
contact you by the email you have provided.
- By registering, you acknowledge that the Bethel University SIFE Team
and WBBJ are only the hosts of the carpool directory. Please use good
judgment. Always meet in a public place. If you feel uneasy, you
will never regret hesitating. Read all carpool tips.
- By registering you acknowledge that the Bethel University SIFE Team
and WBBJ do not verify any of the information provided by other
registered member nor do they perform background checks of any kind.
Please take proper precautions before participating.
- Although a few registered will be carpooling together, the prize
money will only be awarded to the one member that is pulled out of the
random drawing. That member is not required by the guidelines of the
challenge to share the money with any of the other members he/she
carpooled with.
